Cómo editorializar noticias.
Yo no sé qué demonios pasa con Reuters. Ahora, esta nota es un ejemplo de cuándo los corresponsables se sienten editorialistas:With anti-American sentiment at unprecedented levels around the world, Americans worried about their country's low standing are pushing a grassroots campaign to change foreign perceptions of the United States "one handshake at a time."
The idea is to turn millions of Americans into "citizen diplomats" who use personal meetings with foreigners to counter the ugly image of the United States shown in a series of international public opinion polls. They show widespread negative attitudes not only toward U.S. policies but also toward the American people and, increasingly, even American products.
To stem the relentless decline of America's international standing--a dramatic change from the almost universal sympathy for the country immediately after the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington--leaders of more than 30 civic organizations formed a "Coalition for Citizen Diplomacy" two years ago.
The coalition, a loose alliance of national, state and community groups, held its first national summit in July in Washington, where speakers deplored the sorry state of the U.S. image but expressed hope that individual action and international people-to-people exchanges could go a long way toward improving things. . . .
Not even the most optimistic delegates to the Washington meeting, billed as the first of its kind, thought citizen diplomacy could soon reverse a trend that has accelerated sharply under President George W. Bush, many of whose foreign policy decisions have been criticized as unilateralist and arrogant...

Increíble! eso lo esperaría de La Jornada, pero no de Reuters... es más, tiene mucho más gravedad en términos periodísticos [de entrada por su alcance] que ellos redacten así una "nota".
Con tu comentario me acordé que en una comida, un editor de El Norte decía que su experiencia en El Reforma había sido menos grata, en el sentido de que muchos de los reporteros chilangos se creían editorialistas y les costaba redactar 'notas'.
Pero por lo que veo quien escribió la nota que pones, no tenía editor.
Editorialazo sin duda, objetivo y atento al particular. De notarse el absoluto anonimato sintáctico del autor.
Fíjate que ayer cayó en mis manos en un aeropuerto el periódico portavoz de Hizbolá en inglés, the Daily Telegraph, creo que se llama. Entre tantas otras joyas traía un artículo sobre dos jóvenes soldados americanos de religión musulmana, uno malo, que intentaba a convencer a otros chicos de su cuadra de que su misión era buena, y uno bueno, que había ido a Iraq muy a su pesar y que como bien decía el reportero, "se hacía la muy difícil pregunta, muy debatida por los teólogos, de saber en qué situación puede un musulmán enfrentarse a otro hermano musulmán con las armas". La respuesta no me parece tan difícil: cuando hay que hacerlo para defender a otros hermanos musulmanes inocentes de que los destripen con una bomba. Pero es mucho pedirle a un reportero del NYT.
